Job summary

Rolls-Royce Bristol (Filton) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop preforming processes for dry 3D woven fibre preforms and to trim/assemble before moulding. The role sits in the Composite Technology Facility (CTF) and offers cross-functional collaboration with Design, Operations and Quality.

You will deliver the technical package, apply SPC-driven improvements, and drive the process towards zero defects while working within aerospace manufacturing standards and security considerations.

Qualifications

• Engineering or relevant discipline degree and manufacturing background.
• Experience handling and processing dry (3D woven) fibres.
• Understanding of TRL or similar maturity concepts.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing toolsets and process controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver composite preforming processes including trimming and assembly of dry fibre preforms.
• Ensure preforming techniques meet Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Lead time requirements.
• Create the Technical Package (Equipment Specification, TI’s, PFMEAs, Tooling, Equipment and HSE docs).
• Identify opportunities for process improvements using SPC (PPk/Cpk) and share best practices.
• Drive zero-defect performance and progress the fan system towards industrialisation.
