Job summary

Contechs are recruiting an experienced Composite Laminator to support automotive and supercar programmes in Rotherham. You will manufacture and lay up composite components using pre-preg carbon fibre, read engineering drawings, and assist autoclave processes.

The role emphasises strict quality and timely delivery within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on carbon fibre lay-up, vacuum bagging skills, and the ability to work independently in a contractor setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Composite Laminator in automotive, motorsport, aerospace or similar.
• Hands-on experience with pre-preg carbon fibre lay-up techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, ply books and manufacturing instructions.
• Practical experience with vacuum bagging and autoclave processes.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and lay up advanced composite components using pre-preg carbon fibre materials.
• Work from engineering drawings, ply books, and manufacturing instructions to ensure accurate component production.
• Carry out vacuum bagging activities in preparation for cure cycles.
• Support autoclave processing and composite manufacturing operations.
• Ensure all components meet strict quality, performance, and appearance standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing teams to meet programme delivery targets.

Job Description

As a Composite Laminator, your main responsibilities are:

• Manufacture and lay up advanced composite components using pre-preg carbon fibre materials.
• Work from engineering drawings, ply books, and manufacturing instructions to ensure accurate component production.
• Carry out vacuum bagging activities in preparation for cure cycles.
• Support autoclave processing and composite manufacturing operations.
• Ensure all components meet strict quality, performance, and appearance standards.

Qualifications / Skills Needed

• Proven experience working as a Composite Laminator within automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or a similar composites environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with pre-preg carbon fibre lay-up techniques.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings, ply books, and manufacturing instructions.
• Practical experience with vacuum bagging and autoclave processes.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a contractor environment.
• Experience delivering work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high-quality standards.
