Job summary

JD.com is expanding its European operations and seeks a Dangerous Goods Compliance expert to own DG across the business. You will classify products, ensure safe handling, and align packaging, labeling, and documentation with ADR, IATA DGR, IMDG, CLP, REACH and SDS requirements.

Fluent English and experience with cross-border commerce are essential. Join a fast-moving team that protects customers and enables compliant shipping across the EU/UK.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in dangerous goods compliance within e-commerce, retail, logistics, freight forwarding or a 3PL.
• Knowledge of ADR, IATA DGR, IMDG, CLP, REACH and SDS requirements.
• Clear communicator able to explain regulation to non-specialists and influence without authority.

Responsibilities

• Classify products against Dangerous Goods regulations and keep data accurate across systems.
• Review Safety Data Sheets and supplier documentation, embed Dangerous Goods checks into onboarding.
• Set storage, segregation and handling standards for European fulfilment centres.
• Ensure compliant packaging, labeling and documentation for road, air and sea shipments.
• Build and own the Dangerous Goods compliance framework: policies, procedures, risk assessments and controls.
• Run audits of sites, carriers and sellers and drive corrective actions.

We're building a modern, practical compliance function that protects customers and the business while helping our commercial and operations teams move quickly and safely. This is a chance to shape how dangerous goods are managed across a growing European operation, rather than inherit a fixed process. You will own dangerous goods (DG) compliance across our European e-commerce business. That means making sure every hazardous product we list, store, pack and ship, is handled safely and in line with requirements.You will be the go-to expert for DG across the business, translating complex regulation into clear, workable processes for category, warehouse, transport and seller teams.What You'll DoClassify products against Dangerous Goods regulations (UN number, hazard class, packing group, limited/excepted quantities) and keep data accurate across systems.Review Safety Data Sheets and supplier documentation, and embed Dangerous Goods checks into product and seller onboarding.Set storage, segregation and handling standards for European fulfilment centres with warehouse and EHS teams.Ensure compliant packaging, labelling and documentation for road, air and sea shipments, including returns.Act as, or work with, the Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) required under ADR.Build and own the Dangerous Goods compliance framework: policies, procedures, risk assessments and controls.Run audits of sites, carriers and sellers, lead incident investigations and drive corrective actions to closure.Monitor EU and UK regulatory change and advise commercial teams on what can be sold and shipped.Design and deliver Dangerous Goods training, keep certification records current, and report KPIs and risks to Legal & Compliance leadership.About YouStrong experience in dangerous goods compliance within e-commerce, retail, logistics, freight forwarding or a 3PL.Strong working knowledge of ADR, IATA DGR and IMDG, plus CLP, REACH and SDS requirements.Hands-on experience classifying a wide range of consumer products, including lithium batteries, aerosols and flammable liquids.Experience in a high-growth or market-entry setting, or a marketplace with third-party sellers.Experience building policies and procedures and running audits in a fast-moving operational environment.Clear communicator who can explain technical regulation to non-specialists and influence without authority.Fluent English.Experience supporting international or cross-border operations is highly desirableWhat We OfferJoining JD.com means becoming part of a company where people, innovation, and impact go hand in hand.
