Job summary

Benenden Health is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer for a 9-month fixed-term contract in York. Hybrid working (2 days in office) with 37.5 hours per week, mainly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The role combines advisory duties with ownership of core compliance activities including monitoring, regulatory support, policy maintenance and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong FCA-regulated experience and knowledge of ICOBS, with prior general insurance exposure.

Qualifications

• Experience in FCA-regulated financial services environment.
• Experience conducting monitoring and controls testing.
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and report findings clearly.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and organisational skills.
• ICA qualification or progression toward it is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day compliance advice to colleagues on business activities and projects.
• Monitor regulatory developments and implement changes across the business.
• Review financial promotions and customer communications for regulatory compliance.
• Deliver monitoring, controls testing, and reporting per the Monitoring Plan.
• Support risk assessments, control reviews and wider assurance activities.
• Produce governance reports for management committees.
• Build relationships and improve compliance processes to enhance customer outcomes.
