Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are partnering with a specialist school in Barnet to recruit an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with PMLD and complex needs. You'll provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils with communication, independence and confidence.

The role involves personal care, mobility support, sensory activities and working with teachers and therapists to implement EHCP targets, with training and ongoing CPD provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with PMLD / complex SEND settings.
• Ability to provide personal care and mobility support.
• Familiarity with PECS, Makaton or AAC communication tools.
• Patience, empathy and reliability in supporting young people with SEND.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex needs.
• Support PMLD, SLD, autism and communication needs.
• Assist with personal care and daily routines as needed.
• Support mobility, hoisting and wheelchair users where required.
• Deliver sensory activities andLearning tasks aligned to EHCP targets.
• Support non-verbal pupils and use AAC tools.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to monitor progress.

Location: Barnet, North London
Salary: £95-£115 per day PAYE
Contract: Full-time, Long-term / Supply
Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with a background supporting pupils with PMLD, complex needs or profound SEND?

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist school in Barnet who are looking for caring, patient and experienced TAs to join their team. This is a rewarding role where you'll work closely with pupils who require a high level of individual support, helping them develop their communication, independence and confidence.

If you have experience in a specialist school, PMLD setting, care environment or similar, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

You’ll be supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, SLD, Autism and communication difficulties.

Your day-to-day role may include:

• 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with PMLD and complex SEND
• Personal care and daily routines
• Mobility and physical support
• Sensory activities and learning
• Supporting non-verbal pupils
• Using PECS, Makaton or AAC
• Supporting EHCP targets
• Positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Working alongside teachers and therapists
