Job summary
Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist school in Barnet to recruit an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils with complex needs, including PMLD, SLD and Autism, providing 1:1 and small-group support, personal care, mobility assistance and communication aid use.
You’ll work with teachers and therapists to meet EHCP targets, using PECS, Makaton or AAC where needed, and contribute to a compassionate, patient environment for pupils with diverse needs.
Qualifications
- Experience with PMLD / complex SEND
- Ability to assist with personal care and daily routines
- Hoisting and mobility support experience beneficial
- Experience with PEG feeding or complex care is desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism / SLD
- Familiarity with PECS, Makaton or AAC systems
- Understanding sensory needs and behaviour management
Responsibilities
- 1:1 and small-group support for pupils
- Support pupils with PMLD and complex SEND
- Provide personal care and assist with daily routines
- Assist with mobility and physical support including hoisting
- Facilitate sensory activities and learning
- Support non-verbal pupils using AAC tools
- Support EHCP targets and behavioural regulation
- Collaborate with teachers and therapists
