Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking SEND Teaching Assistants for an immediate start at a specialist SEN school in Barnet. You will support pupils academically and pastorally, tailoring help to individual needs and aiding development of communication, confidence, and independence.

The role involves working with pupils with Autism, MLD, SLD, SLCN and complex SEND, in 1:1 or small groups, across a variety of activities and therapies.

Qualifications

• Patience, nurturing and resilience are essential.
• Experience in SEND settings is highly desirable.
• Experience with Autism, MLD, SLD, SLCN or complex needs is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for passionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school in Barnet, with opportunities available for an immediate start.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with pupils with a range of additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their progress, development and independence.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and specialist staff to support pupils both academically and pastorally. You will provide tailored support based on individual needs, helping pupils to engage with learning and develop their communication, confidence and independence.

The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, MLD, SLD, SLCN and complex SEND.

You may be involved in:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
• Supporting pupils with Autism and complex learning needs
• Encouraging communication and social development
• Supporting pupils with sensory and emotional regulation
• Implementing individual support plans and EHCP targets
• Promoting independence and life skills
• Supporting positive behaviour and engagement
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff
• Providing personal care where required

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who are patient, nurturing, resilient and genuinely passionate about working with children and young people with SEND.

Experience within a special school, SEN setting, mainstream school with SEND provision, PRU or alternative provision would be highly desirable.

Experience with Autism, MLD, SLD, SLCN, complex needs, PECS, Makaton, sensory needs or personal care would be particularly beneficial.
