Job summary

IBC Healthcare in Droylsden is seeking an experienced Support Worker to provide dedicated one-to-one support to an adult with learning disabilities in their home and community, including behaviours of concern. This role focuses on therapeutic, person-centred care that builds routine, confidence and genuine independence.

You'll work from an individualised support plan within a PBS framework, using de‑escalation, empathy and consistent boundaries to promote safety and meaningful daily living

Qualifications

• Experience working with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of PBS and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and observational skills.
• Calm, patient, non-reactive under pressure.
• Professional boundaries and consistency.
• Experience with personal care when required.
• Respect for individual's choices and independence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to needs and goals.
• Promote independence and meaningful daily living choices.
• Support with personal care while maintaining dignity.
• Assist with medication administration per policy.
• Help with daily living tasks like cooking and budgeting.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion.
• Follow support plans, risk assessments and PBS plan.
• Recognise distress and use de-escalation to minimize restraints.
• Complete accurate documentation and records.
• Collaborate with family, healthcare professionals and the team.
