Job summary

IBC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to an adult with learning disabilities in Doncaster, focusing on routines, independence and wellbeing in their home and local community.

You will deliver therapeutic, person-centred care using Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practice to help the person build confidence, make choices, manage daily living tasks, and stay connected with family and the care team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and observational skills.
• A calm, patient, non-reactive approach and ability to stay steady under pressure.
• Consistency and strong professional boundaries; value predictability.
• Experience with personal care where required.
• Genuine belief in the person’s right to make their own choices and live independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs, preferences and goals.
• Promote independence and meaningful daily life choices.
• Support with personal care while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Support with medication administration in line with policy.
• Assist with daily living tasks, cooking, cleaning, budgeting and appointments to build skills and confidence.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion tailored to the person’s interests.
• Follow the support plan, risk assessment and positive behaviour support plan consistently.
• Recognise distress and respond using de-escalation techniques to minimise restrictive practice.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and records.
• Collaborate with family members, healthcare professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team.
