Job summary

SGS Pegasus School in Bristol is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND, including those with autism. You will work 1:1, in small groups and alongside teachers to help pupils access the curriculum, foster independence and maximise achievement.

We offer a comprehensive induction, ongoing training and a supportive team. This is a full-time role (37 hours/week), term-time only, with a salary of £26,427–£28,153 per year, pro rata to £22,933–£24,431 for

Qualifications

• Patient, adaptable and genuinely passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting children or young people with autism and additional needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, nurturing and positive approach.
• Good behaviour management with a relational focus.
• Inclusive and personalised learning approaches.
• Good organisation and time management skills.
• GCSEs including English and Maths.
• A Level 3 or SEND-related qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils working below age-related expectations.
• Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk children.
• Experience supporting intimate care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general support throughout the school.
• Take on 1:1 sessions and small groups, support whole classes.
• Support SEND pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• Promote high standards of teaching and learning.
