Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support dementia, nursing and care home residents with nutritious, well-balanced meals. You will help prepare and serve food with warmth, following recipes and recording information accurately.

We value kindness, patience, and respect in every interaction. An NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it is preferred; full training and development opportunities across HC-One are provided.

Qualifications

Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
Strong organisational skills with keen attention to detail.
Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
Patient, respectful and kind in all interactions with Residents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, even after a busy lunch rush.
