Job summary

Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Cook and maintain high standards in a busy kitchen serving residents. You will assist with meal preparation, cooking, serving, and maintaining hygiene and safety across all kitchen areas.

The role requires experience in catering, good communication, and ability to work as part of a team in a care setting. Training will be provided; a DBS check may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment and with kitchen equipment.
• Experience in customer service environments.
• Experience liaising with external suppliers or partners.

Responsibilities

• Support the Cook in day-to-day kitchen operations, including food prep and serving meals.
• Ensure health and safety, food hygiene, and COSHH are followed.
• Keep kitchen and areas clean; report faults on equipment.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals with portion control and dietary accommodations.
