Job summary

HC-One Limited in Horsham seeks a Kitchen Assistant to support our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist care homes. The role is a 30-hour-per-week, full-time position focused on preparing and serving nutritious meals with care and kindness.

You will assist with meal prep, ensure hygiene and safety, monitor temperatures, manage stock, and help train new staff, all while upholding HC-One's five Kindness principles in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience and willingness to work towards NVQ2.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation required or aimed for.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook
• Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces
• Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.)
• Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are properly stored
• Showing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment
• Washing up and ensuring the kitchen remains spotless — even after a busy lunch rush
