Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for a 30-hour position across its Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals, maintain kitchen cleanliness, monitor temperatures, and support stock control while fostering a compassionate environment for Residents.

Applicants should have an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to work towards it, with strong organisational skills and a patient, respectful attitude toward residents and

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Patience, respect and kindness when interacting with Residents and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Support stock rotation and proper storage; show new team members how to use equipment safely.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, even after busy periods.
