Job summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is seeking a dedicated Portering team member to support patient transfers, waste handling, and delivery of supplies across the site. You will work with various wheeled equipment and be part of the trust's on-site logistics and safety procedures.

As part of the portering team, you will ensure prompt service, maintain patient dignity, and assist clinical colleagues with equipment and transport needs. Weekend work and flexible hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Must have good comprehension of English language.
• Customer care experience.
• NVQ Level 3 English and Maths certification.

Responsibilities

• To transfer all patients throughout the trust estate in a prompt, professional and efficient manner using appropriate means of transport and TeleTracking.
• To collect, transport and dispose of waste materials including clinical waste following Trust guidelines.
• Transfer goods throughout the trust estate in a prompt, professional and efficient manner using TeleTracking.
• Move deceased patients from wards/depts. to the Mortuary maintaining respect and dignity.
• Carry out all activities according to H&S risk assessments, including manual handling and lifting.
• Ensure mandatory training is kept up to date and participate in annual PDR process.
