Job summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is seeking a Portering Team Leader to supervise portering staff, build rotas, allocate daily tasks and monitor service quality. The role runs 08:00–18:00 Friday to Monday, and involves working with vulnerable patients in high-pressure situations.

You will oversee training records, respond to incidents, liaise with department heads and manage TeleTracking usage while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Good standard of English and maths
• Service environment experience, preferably within the NHS
• Experience of team leading and supervising staff in a busy environment

Responsibilities

• Oversee portering staff and rotas, allocating daily work and monitoring service quality
• Monitor TeleTracking use and address performance concerns
• Respond to incidents, complaints and emergencies prioritising patient need
• Maintain training records and organise courses for staff
• Carry out health and safety risk assessments and update staff
• Liaise with department heads and manage transport requests during TeleTracking failures
• Support return-to-work interviews after unplanned absences and raise DATIX reports
• Ensure correct uniform and ID are worn by staff and handle uniform requirements
