Job summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is seeking a portering operative to transfer patients, goods and waste around the estate promptly and professionally. You will use TeleTracking and other equipment to move beds, furniture, medical gas cylinders and linen while upholding compassionate patient care and safety standards.

The role involves assisting clinical teams, attending to patient transport needs, and supporting the Mortuary and stores functions as required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 English and Maths certification is required.
• Good comprehension of English and customer care experience.
• NHS portering experience or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients around the trust using appropriate transport and TeleTracking.
• Collect, transport and dispose of waste including clinical waste per guidelines.
• Move goods and furniture; deliver stores and linen across wards and departments.
• Assist with delivery of blood products, specimens, and other items while maintaining dignity and safety.
