Job summary

Co-op is seeking a Funeral Service Crew member to support across Cumbria. The role is part-time (15 hours/week) with shifts 8am–8pm, Monday to Sunday, and a 1 week in 6 on-call rota.

A full UK manual driving licence is required, and duties include preparation, transportation, and care of the deceased with professionalism and respect. You’ll receive full training, a competitive salary plus benefits, and access to Co-op discounts and pension.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting.
• Comfort with duties involving direct contact with the deceased.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks including DBS.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations and scenarios professionally and empathetically.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management applications daily with timely, accurate records.
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins following safety guidelines.
