Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare is hiring a Funeral Service Crew member in Bideford, delivering compassionate care and practical support to families. 15 hours per week, Thursday and Friday, 8am-8pm, with on-call duties every other week.

You’ll collect and transport the deceased, assist with preparation and viewings, and maintain equipment. No prior funeral experience is required as full training is provided, plus benefits including a competitive hourly rate and pension.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK manual driving licence.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and heavy lifting safely.
• Comfort with handling sensitive situations with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional manner.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare deceased for viewings and funerals.
• Update client management records daily.
• Follow health and safety guidance for safe handling.
