Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare is hiring a Funeral Service Crew in Watford. This part‑time role (30 hours per week) involves varied shifts 8am–8pm, and being part of the on‑call rota while handling duties with professionalism, dignity and respect.

No prior funeral industry experience is required as full training and ongoing support are provided. A full manual UK driving licence is required, along with good IT skills. The role includes a competitive salary (£13.24 per hour) and a wide range of Co‑op benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role (lifting, moving coffins) with training provided.
• Full UK manual driving licence is required.
• Good IT skills and comfort with using devices (computers, tablets, etc.).
• Ability to stay calm and show empathy in emotional situations.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on the day of the funeral and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management systems with accurate, timely updates.
• Follow safe lifting techniques and health and safety guidance.
