Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare in Trowbridge is hiring a Funeral Arranger on a part-time basis (18.75 hours/week) with a salary of £13.47 per hour plus benefits. The role involves preparing, transporting and caring for the deceased with professionalism and respect, while supporting families and managing client documentation.

No prior funeral-industry experience is required as full training and ongoing support are provided; there are benefits including pension, discounts and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to perform basic calculations (cash handling, discounts).
• Keen eye for detail and accuracy, adherence to policies.
• Proficient with IT devices and software; quick to learn new systems.
• Empathy, discretion and care in handling families and deceased.
• Ability to carry out the physical elements of the role with training and safety.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Ensure the funeral home is clean, safe and welcoming; report maintenance issues.
• Utilise digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work (e.g., funeral plans) to the Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and care/preparation of the deceased.
