Job summary

Hill Care in Sheffield is seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to support Residents in our Residential home, enhancing quality of life through daily activities and personal care.

You will work as part of a team, communicating effectively and maintaining dignity and comfort for Residents. A genuine commitment to care and willingness to undertake training are essential; experience in care settings is desirable.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
• Effective communication at all levels.
• Team player with collaborative spirit.
• Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes.
• Satisfactory Police Check and POVA List clearance where applicable.
• Desire to pursue relevant vocational progression.

Responsibilities

• Care: support with washing, toileting, dressing and daily living activities.
• Assist with physical, emotional and spiritual care while preserving comfort and dignity.
• Assist those with limited mobility and use of aids as needed.
• Monitor Residents who may be confused or exhibit behavioural issues.
• Promote continence as part of daily care.
• Help Residents who are dying or have progressive illness, including last offices.
• Record daily care notes in line with policies.
• Support social activities and hobbies within the care home.
• Answer Nursecall, doors and telephone promptly and appropriately.
• Under supervision, report on Residents' well-being to senior staff.
• Carry out regular checks on Residents as directed.
• Make Visitors welcome and provide refreshments as required.
• Make and change beds; keep rooms clean and tidy; manage waste per policy.
• Clean and maintain equipment (wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, etc.).
• Care for clothing and rooms; ensure items are recorded and marked.
• Ensure privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved.
• Assist during meals, accommodating swallowing and dietary needs.
• Escort Residents to activities, hospital visits, etc.
• Maintain integrity in handling personal and financial affairs.
• Assist with rearrangement of bedrooms with safe moving practices.
