Job summary

London Hire Community Services is seeking a Passenger Assistant to support drivers in providing safe, client-focused transport for service users who cannot access public transport.

Role is zero-hours, term-time, with pro-rata pay and potential overtime. Training and a pension scheme are provided after a probation period. You will work as part of Bus Operations to ensure safety and comfort for all riders.

Qualifications

• You should demonstrate a sound understanding of disabilities.
• Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision and using your own initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.
• Help passengers board and alight, including those with disabilities, following safety rules.
• Monitor passengers in transit and look after their welfare on board.
• Assist with operating equipment like passenger lifts when required.
• Ensure wheelchairs are secured properly using suitable equipment.
• Communicate with passengers in a patient and informative manner.
• Report late running and incidents per depot processes.
• Keep the vehicle secure and ensure all communications equipment is used correctly.
