Job summary

London Hire Community Services is seeking a Passenger Assistant on zero-hours to support bus operations in Milton Keynes. You will assist the driver, help passengers board and alight, and ensure safety and welfare during transit.

Role focuses on assisting service users, including those with disabilities, with a patient, team-oriented approach. The position is term-time focused with pro-rata earnings and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Understanding disabilities and how to support service users.
• Patient, level-headed attitude for in-vehicle duties.
• Ability to work in a team and use own initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to complete records clearly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
• Help passengers board and alight, including those with disabilities.
• Monitor passengers during transit and look after welfare on board.
• Assist with passenger lift or boarding equipment when required.
• Secure wheelchairs with appropriate restraints.
• Ensure belts and securing equipment are properly used.
• Communicate with passengers in a patient, informative manner.
• Report delays and incidents per depot procedures.
• Keep the vehicle secure when in use.
• Use communication equipment safely to support service delivery.
