Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Housing Officer to join the Resident Experience team in Brighton. The role focuses on sustaining tenancies, delivering housing support, and improving community wellbeing across Brighton and surrounding areas.

The job combines office days with remote work and regular travel to communities, delivering proactive, customer-focused housing services. You will work closely with residents and internal teams, enforcing tenancy policies, and promoting safe, well-maintained

Qualifications

• Experience in housing environment, including dealing with nuisance/harassment in housing management.
• Knowledge of relevant tenancy legislation and enforcement processes.
• Excellent communication skills across channels and with stakeholders.
• Ability to work in an agile, team-based environment and manage conflicting deadlines.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular travel across communities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-void inspections and facilitate property viewings to minimise void turnaround times.
• Manage tenancy enforcement processes, including notices and court attendances where required.
• Carry out neighbourhood inspections and lead local initiatives to improve estate standards and wellbeing.
• Support income recovery by collaborating with the Income Team to maximise rent collection.
• Ensure health and safety compliance, including inspection access and risk assessments.
