Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Housing Officer to help residents sustain tenancies and thrive in safe, well‑maintained communities. You will build strong relationships, provide practical housing advice, manage a varied caseload and work with internal and external partners to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

Key duties include conducting property viewings, tenancy enforcement, neighbourhood improvements and income recovery, while ensuring health and safety compliance across our communities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a housing environment and knowledge of tenancy enforcement legislation.
• Proven ability to follow processes, use initiative and deliver customer service.
• Professional curiosity to identify residents with complex support needs.
• Ability to meet targets and deadlines, prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills across channels.
• Team player with agility and collaborative working.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across communities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct property viewings and minimise void turnaround times.
• Manage tenancy enforcement processes, including legal documentation and court hearings where required.
• Carry out neighbourhood inspections and lead local initiatives to improve estate standards and wellbeing.
• Support income recovery by working with the Income Team to maximise rent and service charges.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and facilitate access for inspections.
