Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Housing Officer to play a key role in helping residents sustain tenancies and thrive in safe, well-maintained communities. You will build relationships, provide practical housing advice, manage a varied caseload, and work with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

Based at Horsham - Owl Beech Lodge, this full-time role is 35 hours per week with a mix of two days on-site and remaining time working remotely.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with clear, accurate and effective written and verbal communication.
• Experience working in a housing environment and dealing with nuisance or harassment in housing management.
• Ability to meet targets and deadlines, prioritise workloads, and work under pressure.
• Proactive, customer-focused approach with professional curiosity to identify complex support needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct property viewings and prepare homes for new residents to minimise void turnaround times.
• Manage tenancy enforcement processes, including notices and court hearings where required.
• Lead neighbourhood inspections and initiatives to improve estate standards and resident wellbeing.
• Support income recovery by coordinating with the Income Team to maximise rent collection.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and facilitate statutory inspections.
