Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Housing Officer in Hastings to help residents sustain tenancies and thrive in safe communities. You will manage a varied caseload, provide practical housing advice, and work with internal teams to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

The role involves tenancy management, safeguarding, and community wellbeing. It requires travel across our communities and a hybrid working pattern with three days in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing environment including nuisance/harassment cases and tenancy enforcement.
• Proven ability to follow processes, use initiative and deliver strong customer service.
• Curiosity to identify residents with complex support needs.
• Able to meet targets, prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills across multiple channels.
• Team player with a collaborative, agile mindset.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across communities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct property viewings and coordinate with colleagues to minimise void turnaround times.
• Manage tenancy enforcement processes, including preparing legal documents and attending court hearings when required.
• Carry out neighbourhood inspections and lead local initiatives to improve standards and wellbeing.
• Support income recovery by collaborating with the Income Team to maximise rent and service charge collection.
• Ensure health and safety compliance, arrange statutory inspections, and complete risk assessments.
