Job summary

Ashfield District Council is seeking an experienced Housing Officer to join the Housing Management Team. You will manage a local patch, handling tenancy and estate management, providing support to sustain tenancies and working with stakeholders.

The role involves visiting customers on estates, preparing legal documentation, and attending Court when needed. A capable communicator with strong IT skills is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in social housing or similar sector.
• Up-to-date knowledge of housing practice and current issues.
• Experience liaising with a range of stakeholders (voluntary/statutory/partner agencies).
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations.
• Experience working in a team and sharing targets.
• Excellent communication and IT skills; proficient in professional letter writing.

Responsibilities

• Manage a local patch of properties, providing tenancy and estate management support.
• Deal with tenancy sustainment and enforcement actions when necessary.
• Prepare legal documentation and attend Court as required.
• Visit customers on estates and build community relationships.
• Prioritise a diverse workload and respond to unplanned situations.
