Job summary

Ashfield District Council is seeking a Housing Options Officer to provide customer-focused advice and assessment for people threatened with homelessness. You will interpret homelessness legislation and guidance to inform decisions and contribute to practical housing solutions in partnership with relevant agencies.

The role requires clear communication, empathy, and a commitment to service improvement, with 37 hours per week and opportunities for development and progression within the Council.

Qualifications

• Provide customer-focused, high-quality advice and assessment for people threatened with homelessness.
• Interpret complex homelessness legislation and guidance to inform decisions.
• Contribute to development of new working practices to prevent homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Investigate customers' circumstances and assess housing and support needs.
• Ensure assessments comply with homelessness legislation, guidance, and Council policies.
• Develop and implement initiatives to prevent homelessness and reduce use of temporary accommodation.
