Job description

Join The Filo Project CIC and help people feel connected in their local community

Pay: £12.73–£13.48 per hour, plus mileage expenses
Hours: Part-time, flexible – initially 5–10 hours per week
Location: Home-based, with travel throughout your local area
Contract: Flexible part-time (Casual basis)

Do you enjoy meeting people, building relationships and making a difference in your local community?

The Filo Project CIC is looking for a friendly, organised and community-minded Community Connector to join our team.

As a Community Connector, you’ll help us build strong relationships with local organisations, professionals and community groups, making sure that people who could benefit from The Filo Project know about the support we offer.

You’ll be a friendly face and an important link between Filo, local communities, our clients, our hosts and the organisations we work alongside.

No two days will necessarily be the same. You might be meeting with a local community organisation, attending a networking event, visiting a potential client at home, completing an assessment, or working with colleagues to make sure our local Filo groups continue to meet the needs of the people attending them.

What will you be doing?

With support from our Service Manager, Deputy Service Manager and Area Coordinators, you’ll help to:

  • Raise awareness of The Filo Project and the support we provide.

  • Build positive relationships with local health and social care services, voluntary and community organisations, professionals and other local partners.

  • Develop new connections and opportunities for referrals.

  • Help people who may benefit from Filo to access our services.

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing partners and stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to grow our community connections and local partnerships.

  • Attend networking events, community events, workshops and information sessions to tell people about Filo.

  • Connect with potential future Filo hosts.

  • Complete client assessments in people's homes following referrals.

  • Arrange and complete risk assessments at the homes of potential new hosts.

  • Complete necessary administration, including accurate records for clients and hosts.

  • Work closely with our Head Office team to share information, coordinate plans and help ensure our groups remain welcoming, safe and responsive to people's changing needs.

You’ll be part of a team

Although this role involves working independently and sometimes alone, you’ll never be working in isolation.

You’ll be part of a wider Filo team and will work closely with colleagues including Service Managers, Area Coordinators, our Communications & Marketing Lead and other Head Office team members.

Good communication and teamwork are really important to us. We want our Community Connectors to feel supported, connected to the wider organisation and confident in their role.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is warm, friendly and approachable.

  • Enjoys meeting people and building genuine relationships.

  • Communicates confidently and professionally, both face-to-face and in writing.

  • Is caring, empathetic and respectful towards others.

  • Can work confidently on their own while also being a great team player.

  • Is organised and able to manage their own time and workload.

  • Is self-motivated and comfortable working with a degree of independence.

  • Has good general IT skills and is comfortable using systems such as Google Docs, Sheets, Meet and online client records.

  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, professionalism and accurate record keeping.

  • Has an interest in supporting older people and understands the importance of helping people remain connected to their communities.

  • Has a good telephone manner.

  • Has a full, clean and valid driving licence and access to their own car.

You don’t need to have experience in every part of the role. A genuine interest in people, communities and supporting older people is just as important to us.

It would be great if you also have:
  • Previous administrative experience.

  • Experience of working with community organisations or local services.

  • An understanding of dementia and the ways it can affect individuals and families.

  • Experience of working with older people or people who may need additional support.

What does working for Filo look like?

This is a flexible, part-time role, initially between 5 and 10 hours per week, with your working pattern agreed around the needs of the role and the local area.

You’ll work from home as well as travelling to community venues, clients' homes, meetings, networking events and other locations within your area.

You’ll be provided with the IT equipment you need, including a laptop and mobile phone, and you’ll receive training in areas including:

  • Dementia

  • Moving and Handling

  • Safeguarding

  • Data Protection

Holiday entitlement is accrued at 0.12 hours for every hour worked.

Most importantly, we want you to share our values

At The Filo Project, we believe in kindness, respect, professionalism, accountability and collaboration.

Our Community Connectors are ambassadors for Filo, helping us create positive relationships and making sure people in our local communities can find the support and connection they need.

If you’re someone who loves people, enjoys being part of their community and wants a role where the work you do genuinely matters, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and be part of The Filo Project CIC and help us make a difference, one connection at a time.
