Job summary

Hull City Council is seeking a proactive Commercial Waste Sales and Marketing Manager to drive turnover and profitability of the commercial waste service. The role focuses on developing and delivering an effective marketing strategy, pricing policies, and new business initiatives to increase revenue while aligning with government strategies on recycling.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste management or local government preferred.
• Strong negotiation and sales skills.
• Ability to analyze pricing and market data.
• Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Support statutory obligations for waste and recycling services.
• Contribute to long-term business planning and pricing strategies.
• Drive revenue growth through sales, opportunity identification and negotiation.
• Monitor industry trends and local market to inform actions.
• Capture information for service improvements and new income.
• Develop pricing strategies and maintain council-aligned pricing policies.
• Produce timely management information including sales metrics.
• Maintain relationships with clients and partners for service promotion.
• Oversee external bin supply and stock planning for clients.
• Prepare regular performance reports and milestone updates.
• Develop and maintain marketing strategy with supporting media.
• Identify efficiency gains with operations team and secure new contracts.
• Negotiate contract terms and manage end-to-end onboarding of new customers.
• Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and council policies.
