Aston Charles is recruiting for an underwriting role in the Midlands & Wales. You will underwrite commercial insurance risks across SME sectors and support brokers with technical guidance from Cardiff-based offices within a hybrid setup.

The role emphasizes profitable growth, compliance with FCA rules, and ongoing mastery of multiple lines, including Professional Indemnity, in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Sound understanding of Commercial Combined insurance and willingness to learn other lines.
• Tech savvy and advocate of AI.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite commercial insurance risks across SME products for clients in sectors such as property owners, construction, retail and manufacturing.
• Provide technical support to brokers and customers.
• Maintain profitable growth through sound underwriting decisions.
• Underwrite new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments, assessing risks and making decisions within authority.
• Ensure all work complies with FCA regulations and in-house protocols.
• Develop knowledge of other lines such as Professional Indemnity.
