Job summary

Rogers McHugh Recruitment is partnering with an established construction business in West Sussex (BN44) to recruit a Quantity Surveyor who will own the commercial side of projects from procurement through to final account.

You will manage subcontractor packages, valuations, variations and cost reporting, monitor cash flow, and work closely with the operational team to protect margins while maintaining strong client and supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Solid background as a Quantity Surveyor in construction, with experience managing commercial aspects from procurement to final account.
• Experience with subcontractor packages, valuations, variations, cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow.
• Understanding of construction contracts, measurement, procurement, and risk management.
• Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying; CIOB/RICS accreditation advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining client and subcontractor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for allocated projects and control costs.
• Manage procurement schedules, appoint subcontractors, place orders, negotiate variations.
• Produce CVRs and Cost to Complete reports; monitor project cash flow.
• Keep senior management informed of commercial performance.
• Attend subcontractor meetings and manage valuation and payments.
• Support junior team members and work with Senior QS and management.
