Job summary

Virtual Hire Staffing seeks a Commercial Quantity Surveyor for Fareham-based projects, with hybrid working and a salary up to £80,000 plus car allowance. You will own allocated projects from pre-construction to final account, working with Operations, Estimating, Procurement and Finance to protect margins.

The role requires proven QS experience in building services or construction, strong NEC/JCT contract knowledge, and excellent commercial acumen with multi-project capability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in building services or construction contracting.
• Strong understanding of NEC and JCT contract forms.
• Excellent commercial acumen with ability to protect and improve margins.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with multi-project capability.

Responsibilities

• Review project budgets, cost plans and commercial reporting through the lifecycle.
• Produce accurate CVRs and monthly commercial reports.
• Capture, price and negotiate project variations promptly and robustly.
• Administer main and subcontracts, ensuring NEC/JCT compliance.
• Prepare and issue contractual notices within required timescales.
• Support procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including pricing reviews.
• Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment and valuations.
• Identify, monitor and manage commercial risks across the project.
• Prepare, negotiate and finalise accounts with clients and subs.
