Job summary

Hall & Kay in Birmingham seeks a Commercial Manager to oversee the successful financial delivery and completion of projects, protecting the company from financial risks while ensuring adherence to commercial procedures. Working across main contracts and small works, project values range from £100k to £4m.

The role involves agreeing interim payments, handling final accounts, preparing budgets with Sales/Project Manager, monitoring costs monthly, and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial role within fire protection or building services.
• Good knowledge of standard forms of contract.
• Proficient in cost control techniques and software.
• Awareness of dispute resolution procedures and disputes management.
• Ability to produce monthly cost and value reports.
• Strong negotiation with clients and sub-contractors.
• Experience on final accounts.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Agree interim payment amounts with clients and monitor due/receivable payments.
• Negotiate Final Accounts.
• Prepare project budgets with Sales/Project Manager when required.
• Monitor budgets vs costs monthly and report to senior team.
• Assist with troublesome subcontractor final accounts.
• Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
• Work with project teams and Directors on variations and delays.
• Prepare contractual notices with Project Manager and Directors.
• Attend site visits to monitor variations and quality.
• Attend client meetings as needed.
• Tender terms and conditions review with Sales team.
• Maintain relationships with clients, consultants and colleagues.
• Mentor junior team members where required.
