Job summary

Hall & Kay is seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee delivery and completion of projects from Manchester office, protecting the company from financial risk and ensuring adherence to commercial procedures.

You will manage interim and final accounts, budgets, variances, and contractual notices, while mentoring junior staff and maintaining client relations. The role requires strong negotiation, analytical, and contract knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial role within fire protection or building services.
• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract.
• Proficient in cost control techniques and MS Project, Excel.
• Experience in dispute resolution procedures.
• Ability to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Agree interim payment amounts with clients and monitor payment deadlines.
• Final Account negotiations.
• Prepare project budgets with Sales team and/or Project Manager.
• Monitor budgets against costs and projections monthly and report.
• Assist with troublesome subcontractor final accounts.
• Ensure that we fulfil all contractual obligations.
• Coordinate with Project team and Directors on variations and delays.
• Prepare contractual notices with Project Manager and Directors.
• Attend site visits to monitor variations and quality matters.
• Attend client meetings as needed.
• Review tender stage terms and conditions with Sales.
• Maintain relationships with clients, consultants and colleagues.
• Mentor junior team members.
