Job summary

Galliford Try's Infrastructure division is recruiting a Commercial Manager for a highways project based in Bedford, with responsibility across the region. You will lead daily commercial administration and act as the project's commercial lead.

Responsibilities include managing the main contract and subcontract documents, valuations, payments, changes, notices, and quotations. You will forecast expenditure, develop cost plans, and guide bids and estimating work.

Qualifications

The principal base is a highways project in Bedford, with responsibility extending to other schemes in the region. The role works alongside operational colleagues and the Senior Commercial Manager.

The post takes charge of daily commercial administration and acts as the project's commercial lead. Responsibilities include managing the main contract and negotiating subcontract documents, prices and programmes. Subcontract administration covers interim valuations and payments, together with changes.

The manager will oversee contractual notices and compensation-event quotations and produce monthly applications, cost-value reconciliations and cost plans. Reporting must forecast expenditure and liabilities. The role also leads and develops the commercial team and provides contractual advice for bids and estimating work.

Applicants should have experience negotiating and settling final accounts and a record of managing teams. The employer requests knowledge of standard contract forms, construction processes and commercial systems, supported by communication and time-management skills. A professional qualification such as MRICS and a relevant CSCS card are specified.
