Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead day-to-day commercial administration on a Bedford highways project and region-wide schemes. The role emphasizes cost control, change management and risk reporting to ensure alignment with contracts and business requirements.

You will report to the Senior Commercial Manager, manage relationships with clients and subcontractors, and oversee subcontractors and valuation processes while driving commercial excellence and team development.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of standard contract forms.
• Excellent IT skills with MS Office and commercial systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Solid understanding of construction processes and commercial best practices.
• Ability to manage time, priorities and deliver outcomes.
• Proven leadership and team development experience.
• Experience negotiating contracts and final accounts.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment.
• Act as Project Commercial Lead and manage main contract administration.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Prepare and negotiate Subcontract documentation including terms, pricing and programme.
• Manage subcontract packages including interim valuations, payments and change control.
• Handle commercial notices and contract changes including Compensation Event Quotations.
• Produce monthly applications, CVRs, cost plans and performance reports; forecast expenditures.
• Lead and develop the commercial team and support bids and estimating.
