Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Commercial Manager - Major Projects in Durrington to lead commercial strategies across a portfolio of major infrastructure programmes. You will report to the Head of Commercial and collaborate with finance, legal and regulatory teams to shape procurement and delivery models.

The role emphasizes alternative financing, competitive procurement and robust risk allocation to deliver value for customers and investors within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial management, project finance, infrastructure procurement, or related discipline.
• Experience delivering major infrastructure or capital investment projects.
• Strong commercial, contractual and financial analysis skills.
• Ability to assess complex risks and develop commercially robust solutions.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders across disciplines.
• Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including governance papers.
• Ability to work effectively in complex project environments.

Responsibilities

• Support design and implementation of competitively procured and privately financed infrastructure solutions.
• Develop commercial and contractual arrangements that allocate risk and incentivise performance.
• Support complex procurement processes, commercial evaluations and bidder engagement.
• Undertake commercial, contractual and financial analysis to support investment decisions.
• Analyse financial and commercial information to provide recommendations and support decision-making.
• Build relationships with investors, delivery partners, advisers, regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement and share best practice across the Major Projects portfolio.
