Job summary

JWB Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Commercial Gas Engineer to support a growing technical team across the West Midlands. You will deliver PPM servicing, fault-finding, and reactive repairs on commercial gas plant in schools, hospitals, offices, and industrial sites.

A stable long-term role with a 1-in-9 call-out rota and company van is on offer. Applicants should have valid Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1/CODNCO1 or equivalent), a full UK driving licence, and be comfortable working

Qualifications

• Experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer in FM, commercial, or industrial settings.
• Valid Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1 / CODNCO1 or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence and ability to pass DBS checks.
• Able to fault-find and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM servicing on commercial gas appliances and plant.
• Attend reactive breakdowns, fault-finding and repairs.
• Work extensively in plant rooms across educational, healthcare, industrial, and commercial sites.
• Support minor installation works, upgrades, and remedial tasks.
• Complete compliance documentation, job sheets, and site reports accurately.
• Maintain a professional presence on client sites, ensuring safety and high standards at all times.
• Participate in a 1-in-9 call-out rota, with paid standby and overtime rates for call-outs.

JWB Recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a Commercial Gas Engineer to work over the West Midlands.

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join a growing technical team supporting a wide range of commercial clients across the West Midlands. Around 90% of the work sits within the region, with occasional national travel when required.

You’ll work across schools, colleges, universities, factories, office buildings, and care homes, delivering high‑quality service, maintenance, and reactive breakdowns on commercial gas plant and associated equipment. The role is predominantly plant‑room based, with some minor installation and remedial works as part of planned tasks.

This is a stable, long‑term position offering a varied workload, strong support, and a manageable call‑out rota.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM servicing on commercial gas appliances and plant.
• Attend reactive breakdowns, completing fault‑finding and repairs.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven background as a Commercial Gas Engineer within FM, commercial, or industrial environments.
• Valid Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1 / CODNCO1 or equivalent).
• Strong fault‑finding ability and confidence working independently.
• Experience working in schools, colleges, universities, or care environments is beneficial but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to pass DBS checks for educational and care sites.
