Commercial Director

Reports to: Managing Director

Department: Sales

Location: Luton

The Role

As Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our commercial strategies, ensuring alignment with our business objectives to drive sustainable growth across the UK market. You will oversee key commercial activities, from sales and business development to customer relationship management and team mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development – Develop and implement commercial strategies to drive business growth across Electrical Wholesale in the UK, including supplier commercial strategies.
  • Market Research & Analysis – Conduct detailed market research to identify commercial opportunities, including pricing strategies.
  • Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management – Introduce new customers while maintaining strong relationships with contractors, local authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Understanding Customer Needs – Ensure existing customers' requirements are met efficiently, reinforcing loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership & Development – Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting – Track key commercial metrics and prepare insightful reports for the Board and Senior management.
  • Financial Targets & Budgeting – Lead the setting of sales targets and budgets to ensure profitable growth.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role within a B2B Wholesale industry.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to develop and implement effective commercial strategies.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with experience managing both new and existing customers.
  • A track record of mentoring and developing sales teams to achieve exceptional results.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret market trends and commercial performance.
