About your team:

At Centrica Business Solutions, we partner with over 7,000 organisations globally to help them balance the planet with profit. We build, operate, and maintain onsite energy assets like Solar PV and CHP to help businesses save the planet and money. We are transforming the UK’s energy landscape by developing a 900MW portfolio of solar farms and battery storage.

About your role:

Centrica offers an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Analyst in our UK Business Solutions team. We provide sustainable, energy-efficient solutions across various industries and aim for significant growth domestically and internationally.

The role involves collaborating with Sales, Finance, and Commercial teams to help clients reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs.

The purpose is to develop business cases and financial models for leadership approval and support the Net Zero Pathways team when needed.

The role focuses on three core areas: commercial mindset, technical analysis, and energy and decarbonisation knowledge.

Commercial Mindset:

• Demonstrate energy solutions within a business case context.
• Integrate multiple criteria (costs, savings, regulations, investments) into models for customer recommendations.
• Understand key financial indicators and their application.
• Think creatively to meet customer needs while balancing commercial outcomes.
• Assess risks and profiles based on funding options and savings.

Technical Analysis:

• Proficiency in Excel (VBA advantageous), detail-oriented.
• Good IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Multi-tasking across projects and stakeholders.
• Clear communication and presentation skills to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to learn new energy modelling software.

Energy and Decarbonisation Knowledge:

• Understanding of solar PV, CHPs, heat pumps, boilers, demand-side measures.
• Knowledge of how these technologies generate savings and revenue.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and innovations.
• Understanding funding routes for private and public sectors.
• Collaborate with the Net Zero team to improve modelling tools.

Candidate Requirements:

• Excellent numeracy and IT skills, proficient in MS Office.
• Degree in science, energy, or engineering.
• Intermediate/advanced Excel skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with initiative.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
• Team-oriented.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Location: Primarily home-based, with about 1 day/week in Windsor or Salford offices.
