Job summary

THOMAS Professional is recruiting an experienced CNC Turner—Programmer/Setter/Operator to join an established precision engineering manufacturer based in Bristol. The role covers programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines with a focus on Fanuc controls and component precision.

The position operates on a rotating double day shift, with an early finish on Fridays, and involves in-process inspection, documentation and close collaboration with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC Turner Programmer/Setter/Operator
• Strong CNC turning and programming experience
• Good working knowledge of Fanuc controls
• Ability to independently programme, set and operate CNC turning machines
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Understanding of tolerances and GD&T
• Knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds and machining parameters
• Experience using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, plug gauges)
• Ability to troubleshoot machining and programme issues
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines
• Working with Fanuc controls
• Creating, editing and optimising CNC programmes
• Producing precision components from drawings and specs
• Setting tooling, offsets and datums
• Manufacturing soft jaws as needed
• Choosing tools, holders and fixtures
• Optimising speeds, feeds and cycle times
• Troubleshooting programme and machining issues
• In-process inspection and documentation
• Supporting continuous improvement with engineering and production teams
