Job summary

A Bristol-based precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business is seeking a CNC Turner - Setter/Operator to join its manufacturing team. You will set and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC turning machines to produce high-precision components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances.

Key responsibilities include setting tooling and offsets, reading drawings with GD&T, inspecting parts with precision instruments, and continuously improving speeds, feeds and cycle times while maintaining

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC Turner/Setter-Operator.
• Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls and GD&T.
• Accurate reading of engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC turning machines.
• Set tooling, workholding, soft jaws, datums and offsets.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Inspect components with micrometers and gauge blocks.
• Optimise speeds, feeds and cycle times.
• Troubleshoot tooling, programme and machine issues.
• Complete production and quality documentation.
• Support continuous improvement, quality and safety standards.

Role: CNC Turner - Setter/Operator

Location: Bristol

Salary: Negotiable

Term: 6 months (extension or permanent available)

Working hours: 6am - 2pm/2pm - 10pm (early finish on Fridays)

A leading precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business is looking for an experienced CNC Turner - Setter/Operator to join its manufacturing team in Bristol.

You will set and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC turning machines, producing high-precision components to engineering drawings, specifications and tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC turning machines.
• Set tooling, workholding, soft jaws, datums and offsets.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Inspect components using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and plug gauges.
• Optimise speeds, feeds and cycle times.
• Troubleshoot tooling, programme and machine issues.
• Complete production and quality documentation.
• Support continuous improvement, quality and safety standards.

About You

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner / Setter-Operator.
• Strong experience with Fanuc controls.
• Confident setting CNC turning machines from drawings.
• Good knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T.
• Experienced using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Able to consistently produce quality components to specification.

Desirable:

Aerospace/precision engineering experience, multi-spindle or multi-turret machines, OEE/FourJaw, CMM or Opticline experience.
