About the Role

Conway Precision Engineering is looking for a highly skilled CNC Turner with experience operating Hurco lathes to produce high-precision, one-off bespoke fixtures. This role offers the opportunity to work on unique and challenging projects within a precision engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting, operating, and programming Hurco CNC lathes to manufacture high-precision, one-off bespoke fixtures.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD models to produce components to exact specifications.
• Selecting appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
• Performing first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers, CMM, etc.).
• Creating programs and tooling to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.
• Collaborating with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Ensuring all work complies with quality and safety standards.

Requirements

✅ Proven experience as a CNC Turner, ideally working with Hurco lathes.
✅ Strong ability to program, set, and operate CNC lathes for one-off and low-volume precision components.
✅ Proficiency in CNC programming (Hurco WinMax preferred, or willingness to learn).
✅ Ability to work from engineering drawings and CAD data with minimal supervision.
✅ Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality control procedures.
✅ Experience with various materials (steel, aluminum, titanium, plastics, etc.).
✅ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred but Not Essential

➕ Experience with manual turning for fine adjustments.
➕ Knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
➕ Previous experience in the aerospace or precision engineering industries.
