Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Limited are recruiting for a CNC Sliding Head Lathe Setter/Operator in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. You will program, set and operate Swiss-type sliding head CNC lathes to produce high-precision, high-volume components on a 37.5 hour week with a two-week days/nights rotation.

Full-time permanent role with training, qualifications, overtime and pension benefits. The position is commutable from Nottingham, Newark-on-Trent and surrounding towns.

Qualifications

• Proven experience programming, setting and operating Swiss-type sliding head CNC lathes (Star/Citizen/Tornos)
• Comfortable working to tight tolerances from engineering drawings in a fast-paced, high-precision environment
• Familiar with Fanuc CNC control systems (other controls considered)

CNC Sliding Head Lathe Setter/Operator
Southwell, Nottinghamshire (Commutable from: Nottingham, Newark-on-Trent, Mansfield, Grantham, Lincoln, Worksop, Derby, Loughborough)

£29,500 - £39,900 + Training & Qualifications + Overtime (Mon-Sat x 1.5, Sun x 2) + Pension + 25 Days Holiday

Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours, 2 weeks on days (7am-3.30pm (12.30 Friday). then 2 weeks on nights (3:30pm until 2:00am Mon to Wed, then 3:30pm until 11:30pm Thurs)

Are you a CNC Swiss Sliding Head Lathe Setter/Operator looking to deepen your technical skillset through Training & Qualifications, in a precision, close-tolerance environment? Do you enjoy programming, proving-out and improving processes to push cycle times and quality?

On offer is a permanent role with a global, high-precision engineering manufacturer supplying demanding sectors such as aerospace, medical and automotive, where you'll be trusted to take ownership of programming and process improvement on Swiss-type sliding head lathes.

You'll be joining a business that actively supports technical development, with a strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement-ideal if you want long-term depth in CNC rather than "just running parts".

You'll be site-based in Southwell, programming, setting and operating Swiss-type sliding head CNC lathes (Star/Citizen/Tornos style), proving out new work and maintaining tight tolerances in high-volume production.

This role suits a technically driven engineer who wants technical progression through specialist CNC development, training, and deeper process ownership-not a sideways move doing the same basic setting work forever.
