Job summary

Staffline in North Bristol is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Programmer Setter Operator to program, set and run CNC Mills using Heidenhain controls. You will read drawings, setup tooling, and machine parts to customer specifications.

The role suits time-served engineers with 5 years in tool making/engineering, MRP experience, and a commitment to quality. The company offers a Monday-Thursday day shift with Friday half-day, a supportive team and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Reading technical drawings to machine parts to customer specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work alone or in small teams while ensuring quality.
• Understanding of customer deliverables and impact of defects.
• Experience in aerospace tool making advantageous.
• Engineering apprenticeship as a tool maker or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in tool making/engineering environment.
• Experience with MRP systems and SOP/work orders.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings to machine a variety of materials to customer specifications.
• Operate, program, and set CNC Mills with Heidenhain controls.
• Maintain safe, clean work area and follow safety rules.
• Report breakdowns and equipment faults to management.
• Engage in improvement activities to meet objectives.
• Report lost time and accidents.
• Undertake training and development.
• Support engineering with quotations if required.
• Assist in tooling buy-off and trials.
• Self-inspect finished work using precision inspection tools.

Job Title: CNC Miller Programmer Setter Operator

Shift: Day shift Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm

Location: North Bristol

A great role with a fast‑growing, established precision engineering business based in North Bristol. They are looking for a time‑served CNC Miller to program, set and operate CNC Mills using Heidenhain controls.

Key Responsibilities

• They will be required to accurately read and interpret technical drawings to correctly machine a variety of materials to customer specific processes and requirements, perform appropriate duties as assigned by management, maintain a safe and clean workspace and follow established safety rules and regulations.
• Report breakdowns, equipment faults and concerns to Management
• Be actively involved in improvement activities to support the achievement of departmental and company objectives
• Ensure all lost time, minor and trivial accidents are reported
• Undertake continuous training and development
• Support the engineering team with quotations if required
• Assist in tooling buy off and trials
• Ability to self‑inspect own work using precision inspection tools and devices
• Assembling, fitting, and repairing tools

Qualifications & Requirements

• Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
• Previous experience within the aerospace tool making industry advantageous
• Engineering apprenticeship as a tool maker or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years previous experience working in a tool making/engineering environment
• Experience working with an MRP system and following standard operating procedures / work order instructions
