Job summary

Ross Frank Limited is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for a flexible, permanent role in Leighton Buzzard. Role covers CNC Turning (Fanuc) or Milling (Heidenhain), with setting, operation and some programming responsibilities.

The workshop handles diverse, precision work across aerospace, medical, oil & gas and government sectors. The successful candidate will read engineering drawings, select tooling, apply offsets, and deliver accurate components.

CNC Machinist - Milling or Turning

Are you a skilled CNC Machinist looking for a role where your experience will actually be used, without needing to tick every box on a rigid job specification?

An established and busy precision engineering company is looking to add an experienced CNC Machinist to its team due to continued workload and growth.

The role is genuinely flexible.

If your background is predominantly CNC Turning, they are interested in machinists experienced setting and running Fanuc-controlled lathes, including machines such as Nakamura and Hardinge.

If you're stronger on CNC Milling, they are equally interested in machinists comfortable setting and operating Heidenhain-controlled 3-axis or 5-axis mills.

Programming experience is highly desirable, whether that's:

• Programming/editing at the machine
• Conversational/on-panel programming
• CAD/CAM programming
• Making programme, tooling and offset adjustments to get jobs running efficiently

You do not need to be both a Miller and Turner.

They're looking for someone who understands machining properly, can confidently set jobs, work from engineering drawings, select tooling, make adjustments and produce accurate components without needing their hand held.

The Workshop

You'll be joining an established precision engineering business with more than 50 years in the industry, producing work across aerospace, medical, oil & gas and government sectors.

Their machining capability includes 3-axis, 4-axis, 3+2 and full 5-axis milling, alongside CNC turning and live-tooling lathes.

The work ranges from one-off and prototype components through to repeat production, giving you a good mixture of straightforward machining and more interesting precision work.

What they're looking for

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong CNC setting and operating experience
• Heidenhain milling OR Fanuc turning experience
• Ability to work confidently from engineering drawings
• Good understanding of tooling, offsets and machining processes
• Experience producing precision components
• Programming experience advantageous but not essential

Most importantly, they're looking for a good machinist rather than somebody whose CV happens to match every machine in the workshop.
