Job summary

MCS Group in Belfast is seeking an IT Support Engineer focused on managed services. You’ll move beyond a traditional helpdesk and gain exposure to a broad set of technologies, across remote support, projects, client visits, hardware deployment and infrastructure management.

You’ll work with a varied customer base, support onboarding and migrations, and learn from senior engineers as the business grows. A clean driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ experience in an IT service desk/support environment (MSP experience is useful but not essential).
• Good knowledge of Microsoft 365.
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Understanding of Windows desktop environments.
• Some experience with PowerShell, command line or batch scripting.
• Experience using IT support/ticketing systems such as ConnectWise, Autotask or similar.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts including VLANs, subnets, DHCP and port forwarding.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and a customer‑focused approach.
• Genuine interest in technology and a willingness to learn.
• Clean driving licence and access to own transport.

Responsibilities

• Providing remote IT support to customers via phone, email and support systems.
• Troubleshooting and managing Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
• Building and configuring laptops, desktops and other client hardware.
• Supporting the rollout of new equipment at customer sites.
• Assisting with networking, Wi‑Fi, switches, routers and cloud telephony.
• Supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune and SharePoint environments.
• Getting involved in migrations, onboarding and infrastructure projects.
• Spending approximately 5–10 hours per week on client sites, depending on workload.
• Helping maintain and improve existing customer infrastructure.
